Ben Roberts-Smith, a decorated war veteran, lost his defamation lawsuit against Nine newspapers.
After Justice Anthony Besank found that some of the statements made in the articles were substantially true, he did not attend court.
After the case was dismissed, Justice Besanko found that the articles proved some of the allegations against Mr Roberts-Smith.
He held that he was a war criminal and a murderer. He also noted that the actions of the respondents during the mission indicated that they had established the truth about some of the statements.
The judge noted that the actions taken by the respondents during their mission to Darwan showed that they had established that the statements made about Mr Roberts-Smith were substantially true.
However, the reasons for the verdict could still be delayed due to an 11th hour decision.
For Mr Roberts-Smith, the wait for the verdict has been very long.
He has been waiting for the results of the case for over 300 days.
According to NCA NewsWire, the commonwealth is trying to intervene and ask the judge to delay releasing the written reasons so that they can examine them for any sensitive information.
