A woman’s experience at Woolworths in NSW caught the attention of other customers due to the discount policies of the company.
They questioned the practices of its competitors Aldi and the local supermarket chain, as well as the employee who attached a Team Member Purchase sticker to the item.
According to the customer, who posted about her experience on Facebook, a staff member attached a Team Member Purchase sticker to a steak she had in her trolley.
She noted that the product was free at the checkout. The gesture left her wondering if it was part of a new promotion or if it was a random act of luck.
A spokesperson for Woolworths said that the gesture was part of the company’s commitment to provide its customers with a good experience.
They noted that the Team Member Purchase stickers would typically appear on a regular basis in different areas of the company.
The spokesperson said that the company hoped that the individual enjoyed the gesture and that they would be able to thank the staff members if they were able to find the store’s name.
The practice was widely criticized online, with some customers claiming that they had also been affected by it.
One Facebook user noted that the company gave away boxes of food with the Team Member Purchase sticker on them during Mother’s Day.
Other customers wondered if the practice could also be applied to other stores such as Aldi and Coles, since both of these retailers do not have policies on this practice.
