A young girl died following an incident that occurred at a beach in south-Victoria on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the incident happened at Collendina, which is on the Bellarine Peninsula.
It’s believed that two young girls got into difficulty while swimming.
A passing motorist rescued one of the girls but unfortunately, she passed away at the scene.
An airwing was then deployed to retrieve the second girl from the beach and perform CPR, but she also died at the scene due to her injuries.
The incident is being treated as a non-suspicious matter.
This occurred during the peak season for the area as many Victorians were taking time off from school for the spring break.
