A nine-month pregnant woman and her unborn child died in a car crash as they were on their way to the hospital to deliver.
Karolaine Vieira, 26, was a PE teacher who was killed on November 8 when her car crashed into another vehicle.
According to local reports, the accident happened when the driver lost control due to the rain.
The incident occurred when the driver allegedly crossed the wrong lane and collided with another car.
The vehicle then split in two. The passenger of the car was also killed.
The woman who was driving the car with Karolaine, her mother, died at the scene.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she died a couple of hours later.
Her unborn child was also killed.
According to local media, her husband, who was also in the vehicle, suffered minor fractures and head trauma.
Maria Julia Palermo, the victim’s cousin said that the family was destroyed by the accident.
The woman, who was 26 weeks pregnant, had two miscarriages before she was able to carry her child.
She suffered from a condition known as thrombophilia, which can cause blood clots to form.
