According to McDonald’s, customers can now order a “secret” menu item that was reportedly only available for $14.95 during the 1990s.
Following the rumour, many fans have been asking for the item, which is an ice cream cake that was a staple at McDonald’s birthday parties during that period.
A woman from Brisbane named Bec Hardgrave tested the claims by going to her local McDonald’s drive-through to order the cake.
The McDonald’s ice cream cake was spotted by a fitness influencer who went viral after sharing her discovery on her Instagram story.
The company then announced that it’s available in various restaurants.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s said that the item is currently only available in a limited number of locations.
If you’re interested in purchasing the ice cream cake, the company suggests calling your local branch to see if they have it in stock.
Ms Hardgrave said she was motivated to confirm the rumour as her birthday was approaching, and she had fond memories of her childhood when she attended McDonald’s birthday parties.
In her TikTok video, she noted that Australians grew up with the McDonald’s brand as they were an iconic part of the country.
In her video, Ms Hardgrave can be seen going into her local McDonald’s drive-through and ordering the ice cream cake.
She then describes how she has always loved the dessert as a child.
