A young father died while walking with his daughter on the Raumati Beach in Paraparaumu on June 28.
Andre Bradshaw, 25, was found unresponsive by a member of the public.
His family didn’t understand how he died. Meya Cameron, the mother of his daughter Skyla, launched a fundraising campaign after his death.
According to Meya Cameron, Andre loved being on the beach with his daughter Skyla. He passed away while they were walking.
The two-year-old girl will always look up to her father. Her mother said that losing her father has a huge impact on her life.
After coroner Mark Wilton released his findings, the family of Bradshaw was able to understand what happened to him.
He was last seen alive at around 11.50 am by his former partner. He was found lying face down on the beach at around 12.10 pm.
Prior to his death, Bradshaw sought medical help at a local hospital due to his neck and upper back pain. He was given pain relief medication known as tramadol.
His medical history revealed that he had a variety of disorders. One of these was a type of remote seizure-like condition.
He also had nerve problems that were related to chronic pain syndrome.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Judy Melinek found the sand in his windpipe, which suggested that he might have suffered a medical event. After he fell, he continued to breathe.
Additionally, she discovered pulmonary edema and sand in his lungs.
According to Melinek, certain factors, such as his cardiovascular condition and prior seizure-like episode, most likely caused his sudden collapse.
He also had multiple flu-like viruses in his blood, which could have caused his aspiration and collapse.
