Last year, Caroline Duddridge, 63, charged her relatives for Christmas dinner.
She used to make her adult relatives pay around $25, while her youngest ones would get $5 bills.
However, due to the rising cost of food, her family’s expenses have gone up this December.
According to Caroline, who lives in Fairwater, Cardiff, food shops are just horrifying at the present time.
She started charging her guests for their Thanksgiving dinner after her husband died in 2015.
She then told her relatives to deposit the money into her bank account so that they can track down any last minute expenses.
She charged her sons $25 each, her daughter $15, and her three grandchildren $5 each in 2022.
Her daughters, who work part-time, also got charged more. She predicted that things will be slightly different during the holiday season of 2023.
This year, Caroline decided to increase the prices of her daughters’ clothes by $2.
She received a backlash from some people who claimed that she was being sexist.
However, she said that this is not the case. She noted that buying a few items can cost around $50 to $70.
This is not Christmas shopping either, as it is just horrifying. Even though inflation may have caused her fees to increase, Caroline noted that they are still good value due to how her spread lasts until Boxing Day.
Before Christmas, she had planned a mini buffet spread, followed by a turkey dinner, and various desserts.
The mini buffet spread would then be followed by a full meal on December 26.
She said that her parents find it difficult to eat all of the food that she provides for them.
Although some people called her Scrooge, others supported her decision to charge her guests.
