A woman and three children were badly injured when a car crashed into another vehicle in Sydney’s south west.
According to police, the driver of the car was reportedly going over 140 km/h at the time of the incident.
Seven people were taken to the hospital after the collision, which happened at around 2:00 am on Saturday at Milperra Road and Cooranaban Road.
The children, who ranged in age from 10 to 15, were trapped inside their vehicle when it was hit by the other car.
They had to be extracted by firefighters. The police noted that they spotted the sedan driving at a speed of 140 km/h before it collided with a 4WD.
They claimed that officers activated their sirens and lights as the vehicles collided.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a high-speed crash and raced the occupants of an SUV to nearby hospitals.
The driver of the car, who was under police guard, was then taken to Liverpool Hospital. His two passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The police noted that the injuries sustained by the children and the woman were not considered life-threatening.
Photographs taken at the scene showed several piles of rubble and debris, which included various objects of clothing.
Also, shards of metal and glass were scattered around the area.
The police established a crime scene following the incident.
They are also seeking information from the public about the incident.
