A critically injured father from Sydney, Kevin Malligan, was declared brain dead by doctors after his scooter crashed in Bali.
His wife, who is pregnant, will have to decide when his life support will stop.
The 24-year-old suffered multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds after the moped he was riding on hit a pot hole.
After surgery to stop the bleeding, he was placed on life support at the Bali International Medical Center.
His wife, Leah, rushed to the island to be by his side. Before he was flown back to NSW, hundreds of donors helped his family by providing him with a medevac flight.
Despite the efforts of doctors, Malligan’s family says he will never be able to meet his second child.
The incident has been a distressing time for the entire family.
According to Jodie French, Malligan’s mom-in-law, the couple’s decision to end his life support is the most difficult part of the situation.
She thanked everyone for their help and donations.
A GoFundMe campaign was established to help the family with the costs of traveling back to Australia and paying for his medical treatment.
According to Jodie French, Malligan’s wife is grateful for the support they received and the opportunity to spend time with him before he dies.
