Andrew O’Keefe, a former TV personality, was found guilty of various charges, including drug possession and domestic violence. He was also charged with violating a restraining order.
On Wednesday, Alison Viney, a magistrate in Sydney, found O’Keefe guilty of attacking a woman, who can’t be identified due to legal reasons. She noted that his actions were both degrading and violent.
The court noted that O’Keefe placed the woman in a vulnerable position, and he did so by placing her children in danger. He was sentenced to spend a total of three and a half years in community corrections.
According to Viney, O’Keefe’s behavior during the incidents in September 2021 was both disturbing and degrading to the victim. The court also heard that he called her a “lying dog” multiple times and referred to her as a “c—.” As the magistrate read out the results of her investigation, O’Keefe started to get agitated.
During hearings in November, the victim’s injuries were shown to the court, including scratches to her chest and arms. O’Keefe maintained that none of this happened, and he claimed that the woman’s allegations were untrue. His previous offenses had also been dismissed due to his mental health issues. In January 2021, he had spat in the woman’s face and slapped her.
