A teenage girl died after two small aluminum boats collided in Sydney’s south on Friday.
Paramedics responded to a report of a serious crash involving two boats at Grays Point about 10 am.
According to a NSW Ambulance spokesperson, a 16-year old girl was taken from the water by a rescue helicopter before a paramedic and doctor arrived.
The girl was then transported to St George Hospital, where she later died. Two 16-year-olds were also taken to the facility for mandatory testing.
It’s believed that members of the public performed CPR on the girl before paramedics arrived.
The distraught friends and relatives of the victim were comforted by emergency personnel and police at the scene.
The exact circumstances of the tragic incident are still unclear, and law enforcers are conducting a thorough investigation.
Both the vessels were seized for examination, and the investigation has commenced.
