Country music star and cancer survivor Toby Keith died on February 5 at the age of 62. He had been battling the disease for three years.
In June of 2022, he announced that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Keith passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side.
Keith was known for his courage and grace, and his family requested that people respect their privacy during this difficult time.
He is survived by his wife, Tricia Lucas, and his three children, Stelen, Shelley, and Krystal.
In 1984, he and his wife got married. She said that he was one of the most confident men she ever met.
In a recent interview, he revealed that he had become comfortable with his illness. He said that he underwent various treatments and procedures.
In the interview, he said that he was in a good spot at the time of his diagnosis.
He described his experience with cancer as a rollercoaster ride. Although it was hard, Keith said that his wife helped him get through the pain.
Keith added that Lucas was an amazing nurse. He recalled one time when they went to a hospital in Houston. She immediately took control of the situation and said that they were going to get it.
Many of his fellow musicians and celebrities have expressed their condolences to Keith’s family
. Randy Houser, a country music musician, said that it was hard to imagine America without him. John Daly, a professional golfer, said that he was devastated by the news. Darren Carter, a comedian, also thanked Keith for his many years of music.
Despite his illness, Keith continued to practice his craft. In 2023, he performed at the People’s Choice Awards and received an award for Country Icon.
His wife, who was in tears, was able to watch him perform. In the past, Keith had talked about how Lucas supported him during his early years in his career.
In an interview with Country Weekly, Keith said that many people asked his wife to help her husband find a job.
He noted that it took a strong-hearted individual to convince her that he was good enough to be a country music star.
He also said that being at home with his family and his three children was the best feeling in the world. His career ended with him having sold over 40 million records.
