A popular fast-food chain that’s similar to KFC is reportedly in the works to launch in Australia.
According to a report, the company that owns the Popeyes franchise is looking to expand in the country.
Currently, the three major chicken chains in Australia are Oporto, Red Rooster, and KFC.
In October, it was reported that Popeyes took over from KFC in the U.S. as the second-largest chicken chain in the country, just behind Chick-fil-A.
The company behind the Louisiana Kitchen brand is reportedly planning on launching the chain in the country.
The company behind the Popeyes brand reached out to potential investors to discuss the company’s plans to expand in Australia.
The Louisiana-based fast-food chain was first established over 50 years ago by Alvin Copeland Sr.
The company, which is known for its Louisiana-spiced chicken and biscuits, first made its way to Canada in 1984.
Since then, it has grown to more than 3,000 restaurants in the U.S., Canada, and New Zealand. The first of its New Zealand locations is expected to open in April.
The company’s potential entry into Australia would be the latest venture from the U.S. to the country, following the likes of Chuck E. Cheese and Wendy’s.
