Several people were removed from Sydney’s famous Mardi Gras parade route after a group of protesters clashed with police.
They were caught on camera throwing flares at the NSW Labor Party’s float.
A woman from the pro-Palestinian group was also seen in footage passing a banner that read “queer solidarity with Palestine” as the police wrestled it away from her.
A woman from the group was then seen moving toward the middle of the road.
After four officers moved her back to the fence, other protesters ran away.
They were also seen waving white and green flares. As the police tried to remove them, signs for the Rainbow Labor movement could be seen behind them.
NSW Premier Chris Minns joined the Rainbow Labor group for the first time during the Mardi Gras parade on Saturday.
Although he was about 20 meters behind the protesters, it’s believed that he wasn’t affected by the violence.
After the parade, he left the area.
According to NCA NewsWire, his decision to leave the parade didn’t change his original plans.
