A frustrated truckie was stuck in traffic for over an hour after a caravan blocked the road as he was driving along a windy and steep road near Brisbane, Australia.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when the vehicle’s driver lost control. He was off-duty and was driving along Mount Glorious Road, which is about 35 kilometers northwest of Brisbane.
There are no signs posted prohibiting vehicles from traveling on this road. According to Andrew Mathiesen, he was surprised to see a caravan driving through the road.
According to Mathiesen, the driver of the vehicle initially let him pass while they were traveling in the same direction. However, on his return trip, the two drivers got into an argument. The driver of the vehicle then blocked his path for about an hour.
The road conditions were slippery due to the wet weather and the accumulation of debris. It wasn’t suitable for caravans or heavy vehicles.
Currently, those who want to tow a caravan need to have a standard driving license.
However, according to Mathiesen, this shouldn’t be the case for those who are towing caravans as they require more training and a specific license due to the additional weight they can carry.
This sentiment was shared by Raphael Grzebieta, a road safety expert from the University of NSW.
It makes sense to require those who are involved in the towing of caravans to have additional training as compared to those who are driving a truck.
