He played over 200 first-grade games in Australia and was a part of the NSW State of Origin team 14 times.
Although he made his debut for South Sydney in 1990, he mainly played for the Manly Sea Eagles during the 1990s.
During the 1996 ARL grand final, he was part of the team that won the premiership. In 1993, he debuted for NSW during the third match of the series against Queensland.
During the 1999 State of Origin series, Hill faced off against Gorden Tallis, the rival of the Queensland Maroons.
