A juvenile was charged with attempted murder following an incident that occurred at the Highpoint mall in Melbourne’s west.
According to police, six men got into a fight outside a cinema in the mall in Maribyrnong before they spilled out into a restaurant at around 6.10 pm.
Two of them were armed with machetes.
A man from St. Albans was reportedly stabbed in the arm and taken to a hospital.
A spokesperson for the mall said that security was immediately dispatched to the scene after it was notified about the incident.
The incident was immediately reported to the police.
The spokesperson for the mall noted that it was assisting the authorities with their inquiries, and they would not be able to provide further details due to the nature of the situation.
Since the incident, the mall has beefed up its security measures.
All of its security personnel have been equipped with stabproof vests.
A man from Sunshine North, a 17-year-old from Braybrook, and a man from Deer Park were apprehended at the scene.
The three men were released on summons while awaiting further inquiries.
The police noted that the groups involved were known to one another.
The teenager from Braybrook was charged with weapons and assault.
The juvenile was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in a children’s court later.
