Hall & Oates, who have been performing together for over 50 years, have announced that they are no longer working together.
The two were caught in a legal dispute last year after John tried to sell his stake in their company Whole Oats Enterprises.
Daryl said that although it was an unfortunate and untimely end to their partnership, he doesn’t know why they decided to split up.
He added that difficult situations can be made worse by factors outside of their control.
Hall stated that it is the end of an era for the band, as they have not been working together for over 25 years. The 77-year-old musician said that apart from performing live, the two of them did not write any songs together.
The duo, which first formed in 1970, became known for their hits such as Maneater, Rich Girl, and Private Eyes. They were later inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They also received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. In 2014, a judge ruled that Hall was the rightful owner of the joint venture, preventing John from selling his stake without their permission.
Hall has since collaborated with Dave Stewart, a British musician who is best known for his work with Annie Lennox, for his upcoming solo album.
