A young man from Eagle Farm died in hospital on Friday after he was allegedly found buried in a rural area of Queensland.
Emergency services were called to a property on McLean Rd, Mount Mee, at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday. His body was discovered partially buried on the property.
A man and a woman from Mount Mee faced court on various charges, including attempted murder and torture.
On Saturday, the charge of attempted murder was upgraded to murder. Detective Joe Zitney said on Sunday that the three people involved in the incident knew each other, and it was not related to family violence.
He noted that there was evidence suggesting that the victim had been in Mount Mee since April 29.
According to Zitney, the injuries sustained by his alleged victim were severe, and further investigation is needed to determine the exact cause of his death.
It’s believed that the man was buried partially, though Inspector Zitney would not confirm this.
He stated that the police were called after a woman reported an assault. Crime scene investigators and divers were then sent to the property, and multiple dwellings were searched.
He said that it could have been up to eight weeks that the two people were at the location.
Zitney noted that the investigation is still ongoing, particularly regarding the man’s arrival at the property.
A man and woman, both aged 23, and 21, have been charged with various offenses, including murder, torture, and wounding. Both of them have been remanded in custody.
The woman will appear at the Caboolture Magistrate’s Court on May 7, while her alleged accomplice will appear on July 4.
