The singer of the Australian rock band Jimmy and The Boys, Ignatius Jones, died in the Philippines.
He was born in 1971.
During the 1970s and 1980s, he fronted the group, which had hits such as “I’m Not Like Everybody” and “They Won’t Let Me Talk To Me.”
His sister, Monica Trapaga, confirmed his death on X, a website that used to be known as Twitte
r. She said that he died due to a short illness. He passed away at around 9:30 pm on May 7 in Iloilo City.
His family and friends will remember him as a bon-vivant and a Renaissance man who was passionate about the arts and history.
In a statement, his family said that he was surrounded by his wife, Novy, and his mother, Margot Martin.
He also had a brother, Luis Miguel, and sisters Rocio and Monica.
After the band Jimmy and the Boys broke up in the late 1970s, he signed a solo record deal with Warner Records.
Throughout the last three decades, Jones has been involved in various major events in Australia.
For six years, he was the director of the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Sydney.
He also directed the Millennium celebrations of the City of Sydney.
