A man was apprehended after a body was found in a train station’s car park at around 7:20 am on Sunday in Wollongong.
Station staff discovered the body of a 68-year-old individual in the stairwell of the station’s parking area.
The identity of the man, who was reportedly sleeping rough, has not been established.
The man who was apprehended is a local known to the deceased. The police did not release the man’s name.
He was taken into custody at around 10.49 am, but no charges were filed as of 3:30 pm.
The man was apprehended on Crown Street, which is close to the train station.
The cause of death will be studied during a post-mortem examination.
The police believe that the public is not at risk.
