Amelia Kotze, who was 15 years old and aspiring to be a motocross champion, died in hospital after suffering a serious crash during a race on the Central Coast.
According to 7NEWS, she was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital in Sydney after she was injured during the race. She succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
Following the tragic incident, NSW Motorcycling released a statement regarding the death of Amelia Kotze.
The organization noted that she was a talented and determined rider who was a role model for all of those involved in the sport.
Amelia’s dedication to the sport was apparent throughout her many achievements.
In November, she was able to secure the Junior Girls State Championship titles in Victoria.
She also claimed the Junior Track Championships title in NSW in the previous year.
Amelia was also recognized for her achievements by being named as the Junior Female Rider of The Year at the NSW Motorcycling Awards
. The incident occurred at Allen Park Raceway, which is located near Gosford. Emergency services were called to the track at around 2 pm on Saturday.
Kotze was immediately taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital, where she remained until she died on Tuesday. She was placed in an intensive care unit, where she fought for her life until her death. The police noted that a 14-year-old boy who was involved in the accident had minor injuries.
Motorcycling NSW noted that Amelia was a popular individual among her peers. The organization also stated that her death has deeply affected the community. It is hoped that her fans will remember her for her inspirational and uplifting personality. The organization and its members are praying for her family and friends.
