After receiving a heartbreaking call, the rescue team on the Greek island of Symi was forced to suspend their search for missing TV doctor Michael Mosley.
The popular British doctor was last seen walking along a beach on the island at around 1.30 pm on Wednesday.
His wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, 62, who was on the island with her husband, had only arrived on Tuesday.
The call made by a concerned family member made it clear that it was impossible for Mosley to be found on the island.
According to the mayor of Symi, the firefighters believe that it would be impossible for him to walk across the area where he was last seen.
According to the mayor of Symi, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, the area where Mosley was last seen is very small and controlled.
He said that it’s most likely that the television doctor fell into the sea or tried to follow another path.
On Wednesday, Mosley and his companions went on a boat trip up to the coast and visited Saint Nicholas Beach.
While they were at the beach, the television doctor decided to return to his holiday home in the village of Pedi.
According to Greek authorities, Mosley left his phone at the beach and didn’t return after walking around 1.30 pm.
Mosley’s wife, Dr. Bailey, reported his disappearance to the police after he failed to return at around 7.30 pm.
The local authorities then started retracing his steps in an attempt to find him.
However, they were not able to find him.
A police spokesperson said that the search and rescue teams, which were sent from Athens, had no luck.
