Football fans were baffled by an image captured by Paul Kane, an Australian Football League photographer based in Perth.
It showed a post-match embrace between North Melbourne’s Charlie Comben and Aidan Corr after the team’s win over West Coast.
It had taken the team 13 rounds to get its first victory of the season.
Due to the angle of the photo, the fifth hand appeared to be occupied by only two individuals.
Both of Corr and Comben’s arms were in clear vision, and the hand was nowhere near where it should have been.
The photo was posted on the team’s social media platforms and confused fans.
Guy Cheatley, who was one of the people who commented on the photo, asked who the hand was in.
Others joked about how the royal family’s photo was photoshopped, with one person referring to Kate Middleton’s children as Princess Kate.
Kane tried to explain the photo’s photo manipulation by saying that it was an unintentional trick.
A second image shows Comben’s body at an angle that reveals Toby Pink’s hand resting on Corr’s back.
This explains the odd angle of the photo and the mysterious fifth hand.
