Former football player Shannon Cox of Collingwood was charged with causing death by intoxicated driving following a fatal crash that happened on the Brand Highway near Cooljarloo in Western Australia on Friday.

It was reported that two women in their eighties died at the scene.

A passenger in a car, who was only twelve years old, suffered minor injuries.

The incident was reported by Sky News as not being as severe as it could have been.

Cox appeared in court on Saturday and was charged with two counts related to the incident.

It is believed that he will remain in custody until June 18.
