Deputy Premier Cameron Dick of Queensland visited the site of a fatal house fire that claimed the lives of an elderly woman and her son.
The incident happened in the Woodridge suburb of Brisbane.
Emergency services were called to the scene after the house caught on fire at around 6 pm.
As the local member for Woodridge, Dick visited the house to pay tribute to the woman.
He noted that she had been a very helpful individual who had become frail in her later years.
He described the incident as a tragic loss for the community.
The woman had been a supportive individual, and her son had been caring for her.
The police are now trying to determine the cause of the fire.
