On Friday night, during a Channel 7 interview, presenter Abbey Holmes delivered an emphatic middle finger to her critics after she embraced Lachie Neale following an AFL match.
Holmes, who used to be a presentater for the Adelaide Crows, became the target of online criticism after she embraced Neale following the match on June 7.
Before their discussion ended, both of them leaned in for a kiss.
Although the two are close friends off the field, their seemingly innocent exchange got the wrong end of the stick online.
It eventually saw both Neale and Holmes address the criticism. Before the match between Carlton and Geelong was over, Holmes went to the MCG to talk to Tom De Koning, who was the Blues’ ruckman. The two then embraced and kissed on the cheek.
The middle finger was a defiant statement to those who criticized her actions following the incident with Neale.
The fans were impressed by Holmes’ display. One of them was Ralph Horowitz.
He wrote that De Koning had given Holmes a kiss on the cheek as a goodbye.
One user commented on how Holmes had brought back the kiss.
Another person said she was dishing out the feminists with her controversial display.
In response, Holmes took a teacup and addressed the situation in a statement.
She made the comment after Kate Halfpenny, a social commentator, wrote a column for The Age.
According to Holmes, the exchange was merely an ordinary interaction between friends.
