Another company has collapsed following an abrupt announcement that it would be shutting down at the end of the week.

Melbourne-based brewery, The Alchemy Brewing Co, posted on its Facebook page that it would be calling it quits after having had a rough time.

The post stated that the company would be closing its doors at the end of the month.

It noted that its customers would be invited to a farewell party on June 29.

The brewery was first established in December 2019, and it was located on Lygon Street in Brunswick East.

The company had been struggling since it opened, especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also experienced the multiple lockdowns in Melbourne during the course of the year.

One of its founders, Pim Muter from New Zealand, was born in the Netherlands and grew up there.

In 2022, he told Beat that he wanted to create a variety of unique and un-common beer styles, such as American Brown Ales and Belgian Wits.

The company then expanded its operations by creating a kitchen and taproom. During its peak, the venue also had live music.

The rapid decline in demand and the high taxes that have been imposed on the industry have caused many breweries to close.
