Officials in Victoria have urged residents to be vigilant about the symptoms of measles after a person who recently returned from an overseas trip tested positive for the disease. The infected individual arrived in the state on a flight from Singapore on Monday.

The person, who was infected with the measles virus, visited various establishments along the Great Ocean Road in the next couple of days.

These include a McDonald’s restaurant and a Coles supermarket.

Measles symptoms are similar to those of influenza and COVID-19. They include a runny nose, cough, and fever.

After a red rash appears on the face, the illness usually spreads through the body.

The incubation period for the disease is around 7 to 18 days.

According to the list of locations visited by the new measles patient, the person traveled from Singapore to Melbourne.

They arrived at the airport in the city at around 5:25 am on June 25.

They then spent some time at a McDonald’s restaurant in Westmeadows.

Other establishments that the patient visited include a Coles and a Toyworld in Warrnambool.
