In a press briefing, homicide squad detective Danny Doherty said that the man prevented the emergency services from entering the house. He noted that the man is responsible for the deaths of multiple children.
The police claim that the man prevented the kids from being rescued. He was taken to a hospital due to his injuries, and he is currently in an induced coma.

The incident is being looked into as a homicide and domestic violence case.
Some of the photos that appeared on the street on Monday showed three candles near a bouquet of flowers, and a message that said, “May you rest in Peace sweet innocent children.”
The message also said that the people of Australia are deeply affected by this tragic incident. Detective Danny Doherty of the Homicide Squad said that the man was not known to the police.
He noted that the circumstances surrounding the incident were very unusual.
The community is urged to come together and support the family. Four other children were taken to a hospital after the incident, and they are currently in a stable condition.
The man’s partner, also 29, is in the same hospital due to smoke inhalation.
The woman was not charged with any wrongdoing. According to the NSW Police, the other kids and the woman are expected to recover fully.
The incident has left the community in a state of shock.
The police and the neighbors were praised for their heroic actions during the incident.
The superintendent noted that the actions of one of the neighbors prevented more people from dying. Fire investigators were also at the scene.
Emergency services were first called to the residence in Freeman St., Lalor Park, at around 1 am on Sunday.
Adam Dewberry, the superintendent of the NSW Fire and Rescue Service, said that the incident was chaotic and frightening.
Upon entering the house, the firefighters immediately started their search for the kids. They were then handed over to paramedics.
He said that the firefighters faced extremely hot conditions during their search. Temperatures in the home at that time were reportedly around 700 degrees Celsius.
According to Superintendent Dewberry, the firefighters were not able to see the kids inside the house due to the intense heat.
They had to carry out a search under difficult conditions. They knocked down the fire and started to look for the kids.
