Abolfazl Amiri died after he was accidentally sucked into the engine of a Boeing 737 during a routine maintenance procedure at an airport last week.
It is believed that the mechanic was trying to retrieve a tool from the right side of the aircraft when he was suddenly dragged into the engine.
The plane, which was operated by Iran’s national carrier, was on its way to Charbahar after taking off from Tehran.
All of its passengers and crew members deplaned before the mechanic started working on the aircraft.
According to a report by a German news outlet, the incident occurred as the engine was being tested.
The safety area around the engine was also established in accordance with standard procedures.
The body of Amiri was recovered from the scene following the arrival of emergency services personnel.
They then extinguished the burning engine using water.
According to a source, the incident occurred on the morning of July 3 when the plane’s pilot started to power up.
During this time, the mechanic was accidentally sucked into the engine of a Boeing 737.
The Iranian Aviation Authority has started an investigation regarding the incident.
