Nick Campo, an aspiring football player from South Fremantle, died in a car crash that occurred in Perth on Saturday night, according to reports.
The incident happened on Farrington Rd., North Lake. Campo was a rear passenger in the Toyota ute when it crashed.
The ute then collided with a black Jeep Patriot SUV, which was traveling in the other direction.
Campo’s teammates from South Fremantle, Tyler Rowe and Joshua Jackson, were taken to a hospital.
The driver of the Jeep and his female passenger were also taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Cameron Britt, the CEO of South Fremantle Football Club, released a statement regarding the tragic incident.
He said the organization was in shock and was focused on supporting its players and staff. Campo was a member of the Colts team.
In a statement, the family requested that the people involved in the tragic incident be given the necessary space to grieve.
Campo’s parents said the 18-year-old died early Sunday morning due to a car accident. They noted that their lives have been “torn apart.”
They also thanked the people who responded to the accident for their support.
This season, Campo played four games for South Fremantle’s Colts team.
He had 26 disposals during the team’s win over East Perth on April 13.
