Dashcam footage captured the moment a cyclist was sent flying by a car after running a red light at a busy intersection in Sydney.

The man and his companion then furiously attacked the car’s passenger window.

The man, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, then left his bike in the middle of the road as his furious companion repeatedly tried to open the car’s door.

The incident, which happened at the intersection of Third Avenue and Richmond Road in Blacktown, has been viewed over 80,000 times online.

One user commented that it highlighted the need for bike riders to dismount when crossing roads.

Another user wondered if the cyclist was an elderly individual on a motorized wheelchair.

They noted that the green light for crossing the road always expires before the pedestrian crossing completes.

Some people were on the side of the car, noting that the pedestrian crossing was also red.

Others said that the cyclist was riding on the wrong road and that no one was at fault for the incident.
