The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning about powerful winds that will affect southern Australia over the next couple of days. These winds could cause blizzards in NSW and Victoria.

The agency also noted that strong and potentially damaging winds will affect the south coast of WA and the ACT.

The coastal and mountain ranges of South Australia, including the Mount Lofty Ranges, are expected to be affected by strong winds that will reach the state Friday evening.

Gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour are possible in some areas.

The strong winds will affect the northeast and Grampians regions of Victoria on Friday afternoon and continue to cause blizzards in the state’s alpine areas until the weekend.

A weather warning has also been issued for damaging winds in the regions around East Gippsland, South West, West, North East, Central, Wimmera, and North Central. These conditions could affect Melbourne and other areas in the state on Saturday.

The winds are expected to start moving up the coast and toward the Snowy Mountains region in NSW and the Australian Capital Territory Friday evening.

Those planning on skiing over the weekend in NSW and Victoria might have to rethink their plans. Blizzards in the mountains have caused numerous lifts to be closed.

By Monday morning, up to 60 centimeters of snow could have fallen in the major ski resorts in the country, including the Australian Capital Territory.

This would be the biggest snowfalls recorded so far this season.

The strong winds could also affect Sydney, Newcastle, and the Illawarra on Saturday with temperatures of 19 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the strong winds, Adelaide is also expected to experience a cold and wet weekend.

Temperatures in the city are expected to reach a high of 15 degrees Celsius on Saturday, with a minimum of 8 degrees.

In Melbourne, the weather is expected to turn colder with temperatures dropping to 7 degrees Celsius.

In Perth, the temperature is expected to reach 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The city could also experience showers throughout the weekend.

Colder temperatures are expected to affect the regions around the ACT and Hobart, with minimum temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius and 0 degrees Celsius, respectively.

While most parts of the country experience severe weather and powerful winds, Brisbane is expected to enjoy a sunny weekend with temperatures of 24 degrees.
