A grandfather died during his grandson’s funeral, leaving a Sydney family in a state of unimaginable grief.

Stan collapsed as he walked out of the chapel following the funeral of his eight-year-old grandson Tommy, who died earlier this month due to cancer.

While at the funeral, the doctors and nurses who attended tried to revive Stan, but he passed away.

Tommy’s mom, Lin, and Stan’s daughter, Amanda, said they were struggling with their grief. To support Lin, Amanda started a fundraising page.

In her post, Amanda wrote about her family’s loss. She said that her mother lost her husband of 47 years, and she was proud to call him her father.

She also noted that their family is going through a difficult time. According to her, her father lived for his grandkids.

Tommy, who was eight years old at that time, died on July 2 due to the disease.

He was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer in September last year.

His funeral was held on July 12, which is the day that Stan passed away.
