A tragic accident claimed the life of a father and husband, who was known to be very kind and loved by their family.

Mika Tua, 29, was electrocuted while he was cutting down trees in Perth’s east when his tools got hit by power lines. He had been a tree lopper for several years.

Shirley Tua, his wife, broke down in tears upon learning of his death. She said she usually asks her husband to be safe before making him a cup of tea.

The couple met nine years ago at a church. Now, she is left to look after their three children alone.

Tua was originally from New Zealand. He was known for his love for his family and friends. He was also a passionate sports fan.

His brother said that the family had planned on going on a trip soon.

Investigators are looking into the incident to prevent a similar tragic accident from happening to another family.

According to Saj Abdoolakhan, the head of energy safety in WA, the investigation will look into the factors that led to the death of the worker.

Among the factors they will examine are the training of the individual, the instructions given to him, and the employer’s involvement.
