According to experts, a wild weather event is expected to occur over the weekend in parts of Australia, with strong winds, hail, rain, and snow at low levels.
The BOM’s Jonathan How said that a series of low-pressure systems is currently moving across the country, and the first of these will bring rain on Thursday.
He noted that the cold air would arrive across the country on Friday and will continue to affect areas such as Tasmania, South Australia, and New South Wales over the weekend.
According to Mr How, the most extreme weather would occur on Saturday afternoon and evening.
He said that the rain, hail, and strong winds would bring snow to areas such as Tasmania and Victoria.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has predicted that the weather conditions would be “vigorous” throughout the weekend
. On Thursday, Adelaide will experience a high of 16 degrees Celsius with light rain.
On Friday, the city is expected to experience similar conditions with wind speeds of up to 30 kilometers per hour. The mercury is predicted to drop to around 13 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 14 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
In Melbourne, the temperature is expected to reach 14 degrees Celsius on Thursday, but it will be cloudy and wet with up to 10mm of rain.
Friday will feature partly sunny weather and a high of 16 degrees. On the other hand, over the weekend, rain is expected to occur in various areas, with lows of 5 degrees Celsius expected on Sunday and 12 degrees Celsius on both days.
In Melbourne, between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, the city could experience wind speeds of up to 30 kilometers per hour.
A severe weather warning has been issued for the strong winds in the Victorian Alps, which are expected to reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.
It could cause temperatures to drop to -6 degrees Celsius over the weekend in areas such as Mount Buller, Falls Creek, and Mt Hotham. In the Bass Strait, Hobart could experience windier and colder conditions.
Highs on both Thursday and Friday are expected to reach around 14 degrees Celsius, but on Saturday and Sunday, they are expected to drop to 12 degrees and 11 degrees, respectively. The wind speeds of up to 25 to 35 kilometers per hour are expected to occur on most days. Snow is also possible in Mount Wellington and Kunanyi.
In Canberra, the temperature is expected to reach 16 degrees Celsius on Thursday. It will be cloudy and wet with up to 10mm of rain throughout the day and evening. The city is likely to experience a high of 14 degrees on Friday. Colder conditions are expected to arrive over the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, the temperature is expected to reach 12 degrees and 15 degrees, respectively.
In Sydney, the temperature reached 23 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The city is expected to experience highs of around 20 degrees Celsius during the next couple of days. Colder conditions are expected to arrive over the weekend. In Brisbane, the temperature is expected to stay in the 20s during mostly dry days. However, there could be a sprinkle of rain on Sunday.
In Darwin, the high temperature on Thursday is expected to reach 23 degrees Celsius, while on Friday it will be 26 degrees. The city is also expected to experience lows of 5 degrees Celsius on Friday and 8 degrees Celsius on Saturday. In Perth, the temperature is predicted to reach 21 degrees on Sunday and 18 degrees on Thursday. It could receive up to 10mm of rain over the next couple of days.
