A massive fire broke out in Seminyak, Bali, on Thursday night. It destroyed several villas and houses. According to reports, the fire started at around 10:30 pm and affected the Amaysa Villas.
All of the vacationers’ belongings were reportedly lost.
According to Bailey, a West Australian, he and his companions lost everything they owned when their villa was destroyed by the fire.
He said they were out for dinner when they noticed the flames. Fortunately, he was able to keep his cash and passport with him.
Although he and his companions were able to get out safely, some of his friends lost their passports and have nothing left.
Bailey said they will seek assistance from the embassy in Bali. A man from WA also stated on his Facebook page that he woke up to find his house and apartment destroyed.
In his Facebook page, Rod Blitvich said he saw an orange glow from his window and immediately grabbed his things.
He said the fire quickly spread to nearby buildings. Unfortunately, the wind carried the embers, which then ignited other structures.
At one point, he said, he counted nine fire engines. After returning to his accommodation, he noticed that his villa was covered in ash and black soot.
Although his villa was mostly unscathed, other buildings behind it were destroyed.
The fire rapidly reached the homes about a hundred meters away.
In footage shared on social media, the fire brigades can be seen moving through the streets at a fast pace, as tourists pass by.
The smoke from the fire can be seen in the sky.
