Patrick Orren Stephenson, who was charged with killing Samantha Murphy, was additionally slapped with new charges.
The 51-year-old mother was last seen jogging near the Canadian Forest in February.
Her body has not been recovered.
The 22-year-old was scheduled to appear in court on August 8. He has been held in custody since late June.
On Thursday, the police charged the man over an incident that happened on October 1, 2023, during the AFL Grand Final.
They said he crashed his motorcycle into a tree while riding in the Ballarat region.
After failing a breath test, he was taken to the police station.
A subsequent drug test returned a positive result.
