People were stunned by the incident, which happened in a park situated in the Bossley Park suburb of Greater Western Sydney.

Emergency services were dispatched to the area at around 2.30 pm on Thursday after a light aircraft reportedly crashed in a tree.

The footage taken from the scene shows a stunned crowd of onlookers as the plane appeared in the trees between a basketball court and a church.

The two people aboard the aircraft, a male pilot and a female passenger, were taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

The crash happened in Terone Park, which is near a primary school and a Catholic church.

According to the NSW Police, the ATSB will investigate the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
