On Saturday, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake hit the Hunter region of New South Wales, which is close to the location of a quake of the same strength that happened on Friday.

According to Geoscience Australia, over 600 people felt the earthquake.

It’s not clear if the latest seismic activity was an aftershock from the previous one.

Geoscience Australia reported that the tremor had a depth of 10 kilometers.

On Friday, a powerful earthquake hit the region, which was said to have caused power outages and damaged several homes.

Schools were also evacuated.

The seismic activity was regarded as the biggest in the area in two decades.

The State Emergency Service of NSW received 12 reports of minor damage to various infrastructure in Muswellbrook and Maitland.

However, they noted that there were no major issues.
