A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man, 33, who allegedly fled the country after pouring hot coffee on a baby in a park in Brisbane.
According to police, the man flew out of the country on August 31.
The police will seek charges against the man, who is believed to have fled the country, for causing grievous bodily harm.
The incident occurred on August 27 in Hanlon Park, which is located in Stones Corner. The baby was taken to the hospital after he was scalded.
The nine-month-old baby and his mother were at the park when an unknown man poured hot coffee on them.
A nurse who was off-duty then came to the mother’s aid and helped her get back to her home. The police were not able to determine a motive for the attack.
Since the incident happened in a public place, police were not able to determine the suspect’s motive. However, they noted that he was probably not a rational person.
He was also likely vulnerable as the mother was sitting on the ground at the time of the attack. The police managed to obtain the suspect’s name on September 1.
The police noted that the suspect was aware of the methods used by the law enforcers.
After changing his clothes outside a church in Tarragindi, he used a rideshare car to travel to central Brisbane and Caxton Street.
It’s believed that the man drove to Sydney.
According to Dalton, the suspect had previously visited Australia several times and had multiple addresses in NSW and Victoria.
