A West Australian Police officer died in Perth on Monday, in what is reportedly a suicide.
Details about the incident are still unclear, and the police are conducting an investigation.
The force confirmed that the man’s death was not suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the coroner. This type of incident usually involves self-harm.
Col Blanch, the police commissioner, offered his condolences to the officer’s family and friends. The force also informed its officers and staff members about the incident.
The organization provided them with support and resources.
Paul Gale, the president of the WA Police Union, said that the incident was a tragic loss for the entire organization. He noted that all of the union’s members will be affected by this.
A spokesperson for St John Ambulance said three ambulances were sent to an address in Stirling Street at around 1 am.
In 2018, Darren Igglesden, a police officer from the Cockburn station, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.
Scott Blanchard, a detective sergeant with the Gang Crime Squad, committed suicide in 2015 while traveling to Kalgoorlie.
The deputy state coroner who conducted an investigation into his death noted that he had become overcome by his private and professional responsibilities and delusions.
