Greg Malouf, an Australian celebrity chef who became known for his passion for Middle Eastern cuisine, died at the age of 64 following a heart transplant.
He was reportedly a regular on various television shows, including Food Safari and MasterChef Australia.
His restaurant in Melbourne was reportedly a popular spot for celebrities.
George Calombaris, who was a former judge of MasterChef Australia, posted a sad message on his Instagram page on Saturday following the death of Malouf.
He referred to him as a beautiful man and a giant of a human. He also stated that he will miss the banter between Lebanese and Greek food.
Many of his fellow TV chefs paid tribute to him on his Instagram page.
Miguel Maestre, a celebrity chef, stated that he was one of the giants of the industry, while The Great Australian BakeOff’s Matt Moran choked up as he talked about his friend.
Malouf is survived by his ex-wife Lucy Malouf.
His last post on Instagram was on September 6, which featured recipes from his trip to Turkey.
Fourteen years after he underwent his first heart transplant, he received another transplant. He underwent the procedure in just five hours due to his chronic rejection.
According to Greg, he started experiencing various warning signs, such as fatigue and shortness of breath.
After he was placed on the waiting list, he waited for a new heart for over 14 months.
