According to neighbors, the dogs that attacked two women in Melbourne’s northwest were known to have been attacking people before.
One of the victims was a young mum who was attacked by a group of dogs while she was walking her baby in Sunbury on Friday afternoon.
Mark Jackson, who witnessed the attack, said there were blood all over the place.
The woman was rushed to the Alfred hospital after the attack. It occurred just two days after a 71-year-old was reportedly mauled by the same group of dogs.
The owner, who has since apologized, said the incidents have broken her heart. According to the Daily Mail, the dogs had been attacking people for months.
According to Mr Jackson, the dogs have been known to attack people multiple times. Several neighbors stated that they had approached the Hume City Council about the issue, but nothing was done.
The Daily Mail reported that one of the residents was told to restrain the animals before a ranger arrived.
Anna Jackson, a local, said that the dogs had previously attacked someone.
They reportedly bit a man’s leg a couple of months ago.
Jack Medcraft, a Hume City Council representative, told the Daily Mail that there was a procedure that involved relocating the animals.
Even though the dogs may have attacked someone, Mr Medcraft explained that it would require a process to relocate them.
The incident reportedly led to the euthanization of the animals, with the owner claiming that she had tried to put the victim’s body over the animals during the attack.
The owner said that it has been heartbreaking, and she just prays for the victim.
The owner expressed her happiness after the baby was safe. She also thanked God for sparing the baby from the attack.
The owner, who referred to her animals as her family, apologized to the public and the community.
She stated that she was embarrassed by what had happened and that she loved her pets.
