Medibank Private, one of Australia’s largest private healthcare insurance, is expanding its workweek trial after it successfully showed that its employees were more satisfied with their work.
The company launched the trial, which has been running for six months, in an attempt to become the nation’s healthiest workplace.
After six months, the trial has been able to show positive results, which prompted Medibank to expand it to 500 participants.
According to the company, its employees reported feeling more engaged and satisfied. In addition, they noted that their performance improved significantly.
The number of employees who said they were able to switch off from work also increased.
They also noted that their overall health improved.
The trial, which is being conducted on a 100:1-80:100 model, involves reducing the working hours of the participants.
It aims to retain the company’s 100 percent productivity by offering employees a reduction in their pay.
Employees who are part-time have also been given a reduction in their working hours.
Even though they usually work multiple days a week, their working hours have been reduced to 80 percent.
According to Bishop, the company’s four-day workweek trial is one of the ways it’s trying to improve the autonomy of its employees.
Medibank has a vital role to play in addressing Australia’s health transition.
The country’s healthcare system requires innovation, and everyone must move faster to respond to it.
