Many people in Australia were unable to access their online banking services on Monday afternoon due to a technical issue with Westpac.
The bank issued a statement saying that it was aware of the issue and was working to resolve it.
Reports about the issue spiked on the Down Detector website, with around 6,000 incidents reported at around 1.10pm.
According to a spokesperson for the bank, services were back online and mobile after around 3 pm.
They also apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience.
Other banks that were affected by the issue included the Bank of Melbourne, St. George Bank and Bank SA.
Many of the customers who were affected by the issue shared their frustrations on social media. They asked why the online and mobile banking services were not working.
One person noted that they had to do a transfer and pay their bills. Others said the situation was getting a bit outrageous.
This issue occurred just a few days after Westpac removed its cardless cash feature from its ATMs in Australia.
Customers can still use their physical cards at the bank’s branches and ATMs. They can also send and receive money using their digital card.
