Around 50 kilometers northwest of Melbourne, a pilot died when his plane crashed.
The incident occurred shortly after 11.20 am on Tuesday, when the Cessna 150 aircraft, which was flying from the Bacchus Marsh Aerodrome, crashed into a field near Parwan.
The pilot, who was the only person on board the plane, was killed at the scene.
According to a witness, he heard a loud bang before the plane crashed.
He said that he didn’t realize what had happened until emergency services arrived.
Over the years, the residents of this area have expressed their concerns about the increasing number of planes flying low over their homes.
According to the ATSB, the plane had just taken off when it crashed into a field near the airport.
An eight-member team from the ATSB, which is composed of investigators from its Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra offices, was dispatched to the crash site to carry out an investigation.
They will look into the cause of the incident and examine the aircraft’s wreckage. The investigators will also use a drone to map the site and retrieve plane components.
Investigators will also try to interview witnesses and obtain flight tracking information and meteorological data. The airport is owned by the Moorabool Shire Council.
Derek Madden, the chief executive of the council, said that he was aware of the incident and was not able to provide further information.
The Victoria Police stated that the exact circumstances of the incident are still unclear. They will then prepare a report for the coroner.
