The season-ending episode of The Block was captivating as Adrian Portelli, a wealthy businessman, bought every property on the block for a total of $15,330,000.
Viewers were left infuriated by the system’s manipulation. During the record-breaking final, Portelli surprised everyone by purchasing four out of the five homes, even though he had used a buyers agent to secretly acquire one of the properties.
Portelli decided not to reveal his game plan during the live show. Instead, he used his spin to make sure that he got the deal done before the auction started.
He said that he knew that everyone would know his plans if he bought all the houses at the same time.
With all of the houses in his possession, Portelli was able to officially drop a total of $15 million during the auction.
The two winning teams, Charlotte and Maddy, were able to earn a profit of $1.65 million during the season. Despite the show’s rocky journey, it was still able to be profitable.
Portelli said that he believed that both teams deserved to win, but he was disappointed by how the revelation went down with the viewers.
One of the viewers said that she was glad that Portelli decided not to participate in the show anymore. She said that he was mainly focused on who he liked the most.
She believed that the quality of the houses didn’t matter as much as how they acted during the competition. Others were outraged by the outcome, saying that the auction was rigged.
After The Block’s season-ending episode, Portelli revealed his plans on Instagram. He stated that he would be using his new management company to develop his five new properties.
He then announced a giveaway that would give away a free resort. The winner would also get to take home an $8 million cash prize.
Portelli was able to purchase the homes of Oz and Omar, as well as those of Steph and Gian, Eliza and Liberty, and Kyle and Leslie, in 2022.
Although he won’t be on the show next season, he stated that he was excited to see what would happen after his last appearance.
Portelli expressed his gratitude for the show and stated that it had been fun.
A spokesperson for the Nine Network said that the auctions on the show were conducted by real estate professionals who follow all the necessary laws.
