A local shopper in Australia was shocked to learn that the price of one of her favorite treats, Cadbury blocks, had gone up to around $7.
She shared a picture of the chocolate aisle with a group on Facebook, showing a number of her favorites being purchased at a higher price.
The price of Cadbury blocks has gone up to around $7.00 at Coles.
The outraged customer stated that she was aware that the price had increased due to the rise in the cocoa market, but it was still not warranted.
She wondered how companies such as Lindt and Aldi could not sustain their operations at this rate.
They stated that they usually buy at half price, but the price of a block has gone up from $4 to $7 in just two years.
They added that they would be getting ripped off as this is not the first time they have been affected by the rising prices.
The post was widely shared on Facebook, with many people blaming Cadbury for the rising prices. Others commended the company for keeping their customers’ health in check.
One person called it a hate crime, while another stated that the high prices have reduced their sugar consumption.
Others said that they would not buy any more of these products even though they are on sale.
One person suggested reducing the thickness of the bar to make people stop using sugar. Another person claimed that the price increases were ridiculous, and they were being carried out due to a money grab.
Both Woolworths and Coles were able to weather the Covid pandemic without suffering.
Even though they are trying to do something about the rising prices, one person stated that they would only be able to do so by shopping elsewhere.
Another person claimed that they had seen Woolworths doing the same thing with several products, where they would put up a price for a couple of months before dropping it to a more reasonable price.
